M-CO is looking for a motivated project manager (public engagement) or senior project manager (public engagement) to join our multidisciplinary team.

The right candidate will likely have 1-3 years of experience for Project Manager (Public Engagement) role and 3-7+ years for Senior Project Manager (Public Engagement) role in an area such as project management, public engagement, community development, socio-economic evaluation, market research, public relations or communications, and will work with the wider M-CO team to deliver a professional and dedicated consultancy service to our clients.

The initial role will involve working with our public engagement and consultation team. The role will suit someone keen to progress in a fast-paced and diverse environment.

Position: Project Manager (Public Engagement) or Senior Project Manager (Public Engagement)

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Location: M-CO Offices, Capel Street Dublin 1 (some hybrid work available)

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

About the Role

The initial role will be to work with our engagement and consultation team, in which the successful candidate will be required to work with the M-CO team across a range of projects with multiple public sector clients.

Our work in this area involves liaising with multiple stakeholders around the country and to engage and consult the public in areas such as policy development, transport and energy infrastructure development, and community funding programmes. Our role is to explain complex challenges simply, to find ways to include the public in policy development and planning, and to support the delivery of projects which improve society.

The successful candidate will be expected to work internally as part of the M-CO project team and must also be comfortable working with, and reporting to, senior management within client organisations.

The ability and motivation to foster good relationships across multiple stakeholders, and to work across multiple teams at the same time, is essential. There is a strong reporting element to this role, so the successful candidate will be able to analyse and synthesise both qualitative and quantitative information, ensuring quality and accuracy in reporting.

There will also be opportunities to work on other M-CO projects across a range of sectors and services, and with diverse clients.

Key Tasks

Developing strategies, communications plans and campaigns for engaging the public and stakeholders.

Stakeholder mapping and analysis

Developing public-facing communications content such as leaflets, brochures, web content, press releases, surveys etc.

Analysis of data, preparing reports and presenting to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.

Liaising with communities and supporting public presentations and briefings

Supporting the design and administration of community fund programmes and community capacity building programmes.

Utilising project management tools and processes to support the successful coordination of integral aspects of project delivery, such as Gantt charts, actions tracker etc.

Tracking and monitoring project deliverables, maintaining shared project files, email management, and project management tools.

Skills and Qualifications

The right candidate will be willing to develop new skills and implement innovative strategic thinking to resolve complex problems. We are looking for someone who is both team-oriented but also brings a mature approach to work and is capable of driving their own workload.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any relevant field such as social science, public policy, public administration, sustainable development, community development, place-making, economics, business, architecture, engineering, etc.

1-3 years for Project Manager and 3-7+ years for Senior Project Manager of relevant professional experience

  • Strategic and innovative thinking

  • Public / stakeholder / community engagement, facilitation or communications experience
  • Excellent writing and editing skills e.g. public facing communications, report writing
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills and the ability to manage time efficiently across projects and workstreams
  • Strong verbal and presentation skills and ability to liaise with various stakeholders
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable with quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
  • Ability to work as part of a number of different teams, and to manage competing demands under pressure 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Please note that this is a full-time role and will require working from M-CO offices in Dublin a minimum of 3 days per week. The role will also require work in the evenings or at weekends occasionally and time in lieu will be offered for such work. These may be client events or events organised or attended by M-CO for and on behalf of our clients. This flexibility is part of the role; please do not apply if you are unable to work flexibly to meet this requirement.

  • Postgraduate qualification

  • A full, clean driver’s licence
