For NCAD Fashion’s 2017 graduate showcase, they moved away for the first time from their traditional catwalk show approach to a presentation format, centred around a twenty-minute-long fashion film, a twenty-second social media edit, and a three-minute behind-the-scenes documentary that students could use in the future to showcase their collections.
The fashion film needed to present student work in a clear and engaging way with a focus on design and detailing, showcasing 3 looks for each of the 18 graduating students. The behind the scenes documentary had to communicate the key messages of the NCAD fashion department, design school, and the college as a whole.
We commissioned Dublin electronic music collective SYLK to create a bespoke 18-minute track to soundtrack the film, and we worked with the NCAD team to develop their scripts and messaging for the mini-documentary film.
The films were launched at an exclusive screening at NCAD on the 23rd May for invited media and industry guests, and the fashion film was also screened alongside the graduates work during the NCAD Annual Graduate Show in June, and was released by NCAD and the students on their own social media channels, as well as on ours at M‑CO.
